I purchased this guard to stop birds from building nests inside of my vent located on the 2nd floor. Surprisingly they were able to lift the small plastic covers on the vent itself and climb in to build nests inside. The guard itself was just the right size to fit over the vent. I pre-drilled holes and screwed it into the plastic border around the vent. In terms of design, the guard fit very well and the vent is able to open as it should inside of the guard as their is plenty of space. I was a bit disappointed though that the guard itself did not come with any screws to mount it in place. Luckily I had some screws that were the right size, but I think this should definitely have been something that was included. If you are planning to install the guard, keep in mind that you will need to acquire some screws for mounting. The vent is white but had a few marks on it as their wasn't any real packaging of the guard. In terms of function however, the guard is working great and solved my problem with birds nesting in the vent.

This didn't quite fit over my existing bathroom vent and pushed out on the bottom by 3/4". I ended up cutting a shim which was less effort than returning it.Biggest complaint was no screws were included! There is a picture with 4 screws holding this up so one would assume they were included. In fact, under the description, there is a line for "special features", which says "ease of installation". Really!Also, there are slots not holes for securing the cover. I noticed that as I tightened the screws, the edge would push in barely making contact. Perhaps I used too big a screw, which is why including 4 screws would have been nice.Product thickness appears adequate, but a determined squirrel or mouse will get in without too much trouble.Conclusion: If I needed another cover for my laundry vent I would probably look for another company.

If you have an all-brick house as I do, this product DOES NOT provide an easy installation. You will have to drill into the mortar joints or bricks, install a plastic anchor for each hole and then screw the cover into each of the four hole locations. There is only one "hole" on each side of the vent cover and that makes it hard to line up with mortar joints. I regret this purchase due to the difficulty of the installation. Simply having some extra holes would have been a help but still not enough to rate it hgher. Also, for the few extra pennies involved, the manufacturer should have supplied screws.

Ordered this to keep small animals from finding their way into our exterior laundry vent. I chose this one because it was the only model available with dimensions large enough to sit completely over my existing vent. It installed easily (just a couple screws into the siding) and works as intended.My only issue is that I have to completely undo the screws and remove this cover in order to clean the vent— with regular vent inspection and cleaning, I’m not sure how long this will last. At the very least, that’s going to cause some unnecessary damage to my siding. I’d like to eventually find something with a hinge and latch mechanism, but at the time of this purchase couldn’t find one that would work for my particular vent situation.

I purchased this cage as a duplicate replacement. I had purchased the previous one at Home Depot, but they don't sell them anymore, and I wanted the same one so I didn't have to re-drill/fill holes. My previous one had broken, due to the Florida sun and bumping into it with the mower over 8 years or so. When installing the original, I had to put anchors in the block wall to secure it, but this one, I just took the old one off and put the new one on. A person would need to be reasonably handy in order to put anchors in-not included (and if necessary in your situation). There are 4 anchor points on the unit top, bottom, and one on each side, which are open, so you can slightly squeeze the plastic to get it under your anchors for removal/cleaning. This also allows it the ability to move a little more, so I won't break as easily, as opposed to closed holes for screws.I would recommend this product.

Our pest inspector recommended we cover the our dryer vent and exhaust fan vents to prevent birds and rats from nesting. He said he sees it all the time and that rats can easily enter your house and chew through the ducting to access your home. These are nice quality, sturdy, and easy to install, and fit over my large non-standard vents. They are about 7 inches by 7 inches and provide nice clearance.I am concerned they will not do well in the sun and will eventually crack and fall off... if that happens, I will update this review. I promise.Hope this helps.

This is such a popular item in our neighborhood to keep the birds out of our air vents! We have construction nearby and the birds came to nest en masse in vents. These are easy to install (we all used short stainless steel screws as tabs are provided to use screws in lieu of adhesive) and not “in your face” although they can be seen. Now everyone on our street has them!!! (48 were purchased in all by various neighbors over time) Since they were only installed early this summer, time will tell how this holds up. However, the vent cover appears sturdy And a nice value for the money.

Works and fits as advertised. I have no complaints on this product. If you are looking for something to fit over your existing standard vent then this is for you. Size was just right for me. Install hint, cut and use sticky Velcro strips will stick nice to wall, then add some caulk if necessary. I thought using and drilling four more screw holes in concrete is way overboard and may cause the plastic to crack. Highly recommended for what it does.
